A Beautiful Life

Looking back over the 21 years I have been alive, I can't help but be so grateful for the life that I have had and for the many blessings God has given me and my family. I grew up in a family of eight children with a mum and dad who raised us well and always had a strong belief in God and in Jesus Christ. It was so much fun growing up in a big family and I can honestly say that so much of who I am now and what I am trying to become is a direct result of being brought up in a christian home which taught me morals and values that have helped me throughout my life.

As a kid I remember the busy Sunday mornings getting my pretty church clothes ironed and ready and grabbing my own set of scriptures each week ready to go to church. I remember mum trying to keep us all reverent during sacrament meeting and going to primary classes where we learnt and sung about Jesus Christ and Heavenly father. I just went a long with it. Being a Christian was more that going to church on Sunday, it was our faith and lifestyle. I watched as my parents made the most of every opportunity to serve and help in the church and community. I remember having families over for dinner and activities, singing at old folks homes and charities as a family, setting up and cleaning up after activities put on for the community. Our lives were busy and I loved it.

As I grew up I began to discovered for myself what Christ meant to me. He means everything. Jesus Christ my Savior and he is your savior  He was sent to the world for all of us and it is through him that we can have lasting joy in this life and in the life to come with our Heavenly father. I can say with confidence that the beautiful life I have had has been possible through following Jesus Christ and it is the reason I chose to serve for 18 months as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. I hope that I can bring this lasting joy brought through Christ to others lives.

"True, enduring happiness, with the accompanying strength, courage, and capacity to overcome the greatest difficulties, will come as you center your life in Jesus Christ" - Richard. G Scott

The song featured today was a song written by Aotea Beasley, Pianika Duncan and myself at high school for  our 2009 Graduation. It is called "Beautiful Life".
